RT GROUP

Since its foundation in 1836, the RT Group has grown into one of Belgium's most important sugar businesses, with a turnover of more than 1 billion Euro. Since 1989, the RT Group has been part of the Südzucker AG Group. This group has a shareholding of almost 100% in the RT Group.

The RT Group has nowadays four business units (sugar activities, Orafti, Surafti and PPE), which together employ more than 1,800 people.
The RT Group manufactures its products in eight European countries and sells them on all five continents.

Sugar activities mean the processing of sugar beets into finished products and selling them. The three Belgian sugar factories employ some 600 people and, in 2003/4 produced 674.000 tonnes of sugar.
From 400,000 tonnes of chicory, Orafti produces dietary fibre and fructose syrups, which in turn, are processed by the food and pharmaceutical industries into high value products.
PPE groups European companies together, which specialize in packaging individual portions. This includes the packaging of sugar and other foodstuffs, as well as shampoos and perfumes.
Surafti consists of six companies, which are active in the European bakery ingredients market. Furthermore, thanks to the high degree of synergy between the various companies, the Surafti Group has tripled its turnover in ten years.
