PORTION SOLUTIONS - THE NEW NAME FOR SINGLE SOURCE AND CUSTOMPACK
Telford, February 1st 2020. From today, there is exciting news in the packaging industry with the launch of Portion Solutions Limited. Portion Solutions is the joining together of Single Source and CustomPack, both experts in portion packing, for wet and dry products. With complimentary manufacturing skills and customer bases, the new Portion Solutions will be the largest specialist portion packer in the UK. Manufacturing over 2 billion portions a year, there’s a wide range of wet and dry products packed, many bespoke to customers’ requests.
JOINT ANNOUNCEMENT OF PORTIONPACK EUROPE GROUP AND COSO
Oud Beijerland / Johannesburg, October 2nd 2019. Today PortionPack Europe Group and Sandy Ramsay (CoSo) announced that they have agreed to change their shareholding percentages in CoSo. PPE´s share will change from 40 % to 75 % whereas Sandy Ramsay´s share will change from 60 % to 25 %. The transaction is subject to the approval of the Competition Commission in South Africa.
The increased participation by PPE reflects our long term intention to continue and grow in the South African and wider African markets. The continued share by Sandy Ramsay reflects his intention and ambition to stay personally involved in building this joint future.
The new shareholder positions will not change the strategy, organization and market approach of CoSo.
We look forward to jointly developing CoSo further in the same atmosphere as in previous years.
PORTIONPACK EUROPE GROUP HAS ACQUIRED CUSTOMPACK LIMITED
Oud Beijerland, September 19, 2018. PortionPack Europe Group, the leading European specialist for portion packs, today announced that it has acquired CustomPack Ltd, formerly known as Chequer Foods Ltd, from Selecta Group, via its UK based company Single Source Ltd.
CustomPack focuses on the provision of single portion items such as wet sauces, dry products and portion packing to its clients from its assembly facilities in Telford UK. The business generated net sales in excess of €20 million in the 12 month period to end-June 2018.
David Flochel CEO of Selecta Group, commented: “CustomPack is a good solid business. However, given our focus on being the leading unattended self-service convenience food and beverage operator in Europe, we feel CustomPack is non-core and that its future growth can be better supported by a new owner. PortionPack operates in the same industry as CustomPack, understands how the business works and can drive the business forward. Selecta will continue to source products from CustomPack.”

The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

20 Years of PortionPack Europe Group – that´s a reason to celebrate!
Sometimes small things in life can create the most beautiful moments.This is the belief that encourages the PPE team to give their best every day.
The story started 20 years ago – in 1998 when Südzucker AG laid the foundations of the present PortionPack Europe Group by bringing together Van Oordt and HELLMA Germany, leading specialists in single packs servings in their respective countries.
Van Oordt was founded by Hendrik van Oordt.
His company refined cane sugar imported by the Dutch East India Company. In 1734 he opened their first sugar refinery in Rotterdam. It was one of the first automated packers of sugar into portion packs at the end of 19th century.
HELLMA Germany’s-story began with the food wholesaler Karl Hellman in the 1920s.He successfully pursued the idea of marketing a twin pack of sugar cubes wrapped in printed paper displaying an advert. This was the beginning of the smallest advertising medium in the German market.
Today PortionPack Europe Group is a part of the Südzucker Group and are experts in production & distribution of portion packs for the out-of-home market and employ more than 430 people. As a group of seven companies across seven European countries, the PPE Group has become the European market leader in the portion pack segment. Together the group sells around 15 billion portions per year. That's more than 40 million portions a day.
To celebrate the groups 20th anniversary the PPE Management Board invited the PortionPack Europe Group management team to a Meeting in the Netherlands on 13/14th of June 2018. In addition to the exchange of information on strategy and vision, a small sailing regatta provided a lot of fun. In addition a group wide competition was held: all employees got a small red box with a mini muffin, candle and match. Every member of staff could participate by sending back a selfie complete with the mini muffin and lighted candle. The response was fantastic!

On March 1st 2018, Gerard Nota retired from PortionPack Europe (PPE).
Gerard started working for Van Oordt and founded PPE 20 years ago. Under his unique leadership he developed PPE not only to an international group of production and sales companies in portions, but also to a group of motivated, happy people working together to achieve results while having fun. He gave us trust, optimism and energy. Gerard will stay connected with us in a supporting role for our joint-venture CoSo in South Africa.
